Emma Jordan
ABOUT
Emma Jordan is an international artist from Nova Scotia, Canada, currently based in London, UK. A recent graduate of the MA Drawing course at UAL Camberwell College of Arts, also holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts from NSCAD University.

Jordan's practice explores the intersection of growth and trauma, examining how artistic processes not only facilitate the creation of contemporary work but also serve as an alternative form of coping and healing. Through her work, she investigates how obsession, repetition, and the dualities of decay and growth are expressed through materiality and mark-making.

Her methods lean into the non-linear nature of growth, embracing discomfort as a tool for building resilience. Jordan's practice acknowledges the messy, complex, and often contradictory realities of being human in a world where trauma is more pervasive than many recognize. Central to her practice are large charcoal drawings, rubbings, and experiments with polyethylene. These materials evoke a visceral response, engaging the central nervous system in a way that addresses impulsivity, sensitivity, and cyclical cognitive behaviours. Her work challenges and reshapes perspectives rooted in trauma, striving to expose, interrogate, and reveal the hidden experiential struggles left by unprocessed emotional pain.
